Rick's Perspective on the Four Constitutional Amendments:

This election you will be asked to vote Yes or No on four Constitutional Amendments. Seen here is a copy of a mailer that was sent out to voters in Rutherford County explaining the purpose and my opinion of each of the four amendments.

It is important to note that each of these Constitutional Amendments, in order to become a part of the Tennessee State Constitution, must pass by a "super majority," not just a majority of votes in the affirmative. A minimum of 50% plus 1 of ALL VOTES CAST for a/any governor, in the governor's race, is required for an amendment to pass.

For example, if 2 million people vote for a/any governor in this election, than all amendments will each require 1,000,001 votes to pass. If only 1.5 people vote for a/any governor, then all amendments will require at least 750,001 votes to pass. What this means is that an individual who is more concerned about passing one or more of these amendments, can DOUBLE their YES VOTE by leaving the governor line blank on the ballot and NOT voting for a/any governor.

Please be sure to closely read the information on the mailer so that you will be able to make an informed vote. Thank you for exercising your right to vote!

Warmest regards,
Rick
